how to delete operating system off of computer?

Question

i was having issues w/ my pc so i decided to repair windows xp but i couldn't so i just installed it again, so now when my pc starts up iget a choosing screen to pick between two windows xp operating systems i tried going into the original one but it won't start so now i just work from the second one but my pc doesn't run like before, it's sluggish, so i would like to delete that first one...if you can provide url to sites where i can go to do this myself i'd appreciate it

You have two options. You can go into msconfig and delete the first version, so only the working version starts. Or you can boot to your (?what XP) disc, delete partitions (d plus enter) then (L plus enter) then (choose the quick format) it works the best, and then install. The second option is probably the best and you won't have any problems now, and you will be much happier knowing your OS is installed only once and correctly!!!!!!!good luck...pcr

Format ur hard disk and install the os. U can also try to undo the latest installlation by pc restore to an earlier date. Reinstall the new os again, taking care to choose to use update option (over write).

If you cannot go to the first one, it probably doesn't truly exist. But you can delete it by omitting the command line in boot.ini file (in C:)
To access this file you can:
- Run >> C:\boot.ini>> then edit the boot.ini by deleting one of the similar command.
- Run>> msconfig>>boot>>edit

When installing a new O.S you should format the drive has windows.
