he vomitted yesterday night and this afternoon too, and had diarreah today, twice. the doctor said i should give him pedialite, but he doesn't want any fluids, neither almost none of his formula, in total he had today 4 ounze formula in the morning, which he vomitted about 6 hours later, and in the afternoon maybe 1 ounze and this evening 2 ounze, pedialite almost none, couple drops of water he took.

how do you get them to drink,

is it very bad if he doesn't drink, he doesn't have wet diapers either.

he is very alert most of the time, but every now and then he seems tired or lethargig, but not much.

when should i bring him to the er? when he vomits again, or only when he vomits another 2 or 3 times???

doctor said, the diarreah is not so bad, the bad thing is the vomitting, do you agree.

thanks

If you are not getting any wet diapers baby is probably getting dehydrated. I would take him into the ER. They may want to give him IV fluids to rehydrate him. Try only giving him a sip or two of fluids every ten minutes or so and see if he can keep that down.

You need to start rehydration slowly 1 tsp every 5min or so as long as he is not vomiting. If he does yo need to wait at least an hour or so before you give him anything by mouth at all. Some physicians suggest 4 hours without anything by mouth but I think that that is too long for sucha small child. Any way as long as he tolerates this you can slowly increase the amounts and please use pedialyte or an electrolyte replacement drink no juice milk or formula at this point. Some of these will only cause more diarrhea and stomach upset. Now you need to look at you childs mouth and see if his tongue is shiny or if you see bubbles, is there any saliva? If so GREAT!! If not BAD. This child is very dehydrated and you need to call your pediatrician and describe to him in detail how the child is acting if he is lethargic or not and the condition of his mouth if when he cries does he have tears and how many wet diapers does he have. Also another very important note if your baby starts to vomit light or dark green vomit (bile) you also need to notify you Dr this could lead to or could signify dehydration. I hope this helps Good luck and God Bless!

Try this. Little sips of water with sugar (sugar water), let him take two or three sips then stop. Then a few minutes later let him try another few sips. The water should be at room temperature. If this doesn't work, take him to the ER. It is better to be safe than sorry.

If you haven't already done so, take your son to the ER now, don't wait, he's severely dehydrated and sounds like he needs medical attention sooner than later.
