How old do hedgehogs have to before you can take them away from their mother? When can I take mine home? How old do they have to be before they can be given away or sold?

Hi there...a hedgehog is weaned between 6-8 weeks and can be adopted thereafter.

It is important for the babies to stay with their mother until 6-7 weeks after birth. In this time, the babies sprout spines (at 36 hours), open their eyes (14 days), and develop teeth (21 days). They also learn from their mother the skills needed to be an 'adult' hedgehog. Weaning occurs at 6-7 weeks.
