The answer is the last set. In the first set we see that 1 and 1/3 is bigger than 1 and 1/4 since 1/3=.333 and 1/4=.25.The second set 4/7 is greater than 5/9. Set 3 is given away by the fact that 2.3 is greeater than 2.08.

Put them over a common denominator to compare easily.

For the first one,
1 1/3 = 4/3
1 1/4 = 5/4
1 5/6 = 11/6

Common denominator is 12 (you can always just multiply the denominators together to use that - in this case it would be 3*4*6 = 72, but that means working with bigger numbers)

So these numbers are 16/12, 15/12, and 22/12. In this form you can see easily they are out of order.

For decimals it is easiest either to make the fractions decimals or the decimals fractions.

2.07 = 207/100
2.7 = 27/10
2 3/4 = 11/4

Common denominator is 100:
207 = 207/100
2.7 = 270/100
2 3/4 = (11/4)*(25/25) = 275/100

In this case you can see they are in order.

With the fractions, change them to common denominators to make them easy to compare. On the ones with both fractions and decimals, change the fractions to decimals. Then make sure each decimal has the same number of decimal places by adding zeros if needed.

Look at choice 4. 2 3/4 as a decimal is 2.75. Add a zero to 2.7 to make it 2.70. You now can see that these are in order from least to greatest: 2.07, 2.70, 2.75

ahhh heck. one quick way to figure out which number is greater or less than the number listed before it, is to convert the fraction(s) to decimals e.g. 1/4 = .25, 1/3 = .333333... , 1/8 = .125.

if your teacher hasn't taught you that the fraction slash "/" means divisor then tsk tsk. 1/4 = 1 DIVIDED by 4, so warm up your calculator 2.07= 2 & 7/100 2.7 = 2 & 7/10 (or 70/100)

i think you can get it

5/6 is what? 5 divided by 6 = .8333333333333333333333333....

which is greater than .82222222222222222222

and less than 1.83333333333333333333

Hmm... with some of these, it might just be best to convert them to decimals using your calculator.

If you're working on 1 1/3, for instance, just put in 1/3 on your calculator to get the decimal part. Then compare the tenths spot (the first number after the decimal) to see the appropriate order!

Best of luck!
