This is pretty normal for a 2 1/2 month old. If she is getting too much in her belly she will probably burp some of it up. Congratulations on your new little one

At that age mine took between 4 and 6 ounces per feeding, every 4 hours, so that does sound a little much. She may want the sucking as much as the actual milk, so try just giving her, say, 5 ounces and then a pacifier if she fusses and see if it helps her bellyache.

My daughter ate the same about 6 ounces every 3-4 hours. her doctor said this was too much, and to only give her 4 ounces every 4 hours. But when a baby cries and it seems like it wants more food it is hard for me to not give it to them. I think the doctors are too stricked about that I mean if you think about it your are feeding the baby straight liqiud. It comes out just about as fast as it goes in. It cant possibly fill them up. My suggestion is to keep doing what your doing if it makes your baby happy thats what I did and she is now a very healthy 2 year old and I plan to do the same with baby #2 who is due in December!

Sounds like your baby is perfect! I've got an nineteen a nd a two and a half year old. My first baby used to dink a bottle, then throw up TWO!
If yours seems to be in a little pain afterwards, make sure she has burped.
If she is "difficult" to burp, try keepin her somewhat upright, and keep moving her around.; gets the gas out.
If you are sure she well burped, then maybe try one of the tummy remedies for babies on the markets. Not gripe water; at least not the kind with alcohol. Get the stuff with, .. I think its peppermint or ginger,or something like that. You just put it in with the milk or formula, and it soothes their little tummy!
Doesn't sound like she's allergic; you would definitely KNOW if that were the case.
Good-luck!

My niece is 3 months and drinking 6 oz. So, I don't think that's off at all. I would say it sounds like she may need to be burped in between. I know when my niece trickles it means her belly has air in it. Just a thought.

My son was drinking 8 oz at three months. So, they are all different!! If she wasn't hungry she wouldn't finish it. And, I'm betting if you pull it out of her mouth somewhere around 4 or 5 she is very unhappy. :)) Best to read your baby's cues!

sounds like my son when he was this age, doctor said i can go up to 8 ounze, but i only went from 4 to 6. unfortunatelly this was to much and he got milk in his lung and therefore an inflamation of the lungs. had to give him pulmicort for 3 month, now he is good.
i always thought he cried because he was hungry and the 6 ounze wasnt enough, wrong.
this was the reason why my doc said i could go up with his formula because he thought to said it was not enough in the first place, you should go and ask your doctor, or go to the pulminary.

my two month old eats 4 oz every 3 hours. when he was a little younger he wanted to eat further apart and more. i would try to get her to eat more frequently. then before you put her down for the night encourage more food so she sleeps longer. tyler weighs almost 12lbs. hope this helps.

How much does she weigh? For a baby to take 6.5 oz. would typically mean a 13 lb. baby--is she close to that? Babies typically eat half their weight in ounces...a 10lb baby eats 5oz..a 12lb baby eats 6oz.
