Absolutely NO alcohol(including wine) while you are pregnant. It could harm the baby. Do you really want to risk it?

people are so puritan some times and can get a new mum very concerned!! i was told 1-2 drinks once or twice a week. i drank red wine throughout my pregnancy, was never drunk and was moderate. my son is alert, happy and very healthy. if u lived in europe u would still drink daily, it is all cultural. just be moderate and sensible, but there is no need to miss out on a glass or two. you have to drink A LOT to damage your baby, alcoholic drinking. so put your feet up, have a glass or two, and RELAX. i found out i was pregnant at 12 weeks and it had been christmas, new years and a couple of birthdays.....you can imagine!!

No, What goes into your body goes into the baby. Would you give your baby wine in his/her bottle? The first trimester is extremely delicate and drinking should be avoided at all cost. I would not recommend drinking in any trimester but especially the first three when the brain, spinal cord and many intricate parts are being developed. See a doctor as soon as possible and ask him/her about this.

Contrary to all of the no's here it IS ok to have ONE glass of wine on OCCASION (that is like ONE glass every couple of months) Wine is full of antioxidants and lowers blood pressure. It is NOT safe to sit and guzzle an entire bottle of wine or drink every single day. THAT leads to fetal alcohol syndrome. And for all of you "nay sayers" on the coffee did you know that most doctors will tell an asmatic patient to have a cup of CAFFINATED coffee if they feel an attack coming on rather than use their inhalers during a pregnancy? Caffine naturally dialates the blood vessles around the lungs making it easier for them to expand and is alot safer during pregnancy than the inhalers.

Any GYN that tells you drinking whine while pregnant is okay has no right or buissness being a GYN.

My mother is a GYN and has been for almost 15 years and she has had patients drink whine and have babies with FAS and thier is actually a law in most states where if you drink anything with alcohol in it after a certain point in your pregnancy you can be arrested

A standard glass of wine is only about 150ml or half a glass. I fail to see how a substance that kills adult brain cells could not be considered dangerous to a pregnancy. How many baby brain cells must it kill?

They say a glass of wine every now and then is okay. But no more. Alcohol can harm the baby as you know, but it is okay to have a glass of wine sometimes :)

They say drinking in moderation...no more then 2 glasses a day...or maybe week. I'm a mother of 3 and drank while carrying each of them.

My children have all turned out alright....touch wood.

I don't think there's any problem with it personally but I'm not a doctor just a mum....

By the way....Congratulations:-)

A BIG NO. They do NOT know how much can affect the baby... so please stay away from it. I know ppl will say they have a glass here and there... but that goes straight to the baby- what you take in, the baby gets as well. Do you really want to risk it?
