In my experience ..not really. I think the fun with bikes is the ability to lean when cornering etc, with trikes you dont have that.
To me it was a bit like driving a car, trikes are heavy to steer and they are very much like sidecars.
The only real benefit is that they usually have bigger engines than bikes and you can tow a good sized trailer behind.
Horses for courses. If you want to go a the open road and have plenty of power and be able to tow what you need with ya lady sitting comfortably behind you on the back , maaaaate you cant beat a trike.
If you want speed, manouverability and fast touring then you do not want a trike.
Trying joining a local bike club( as opposed to outlaw motorcycle gang) they will be able to give your more info. Hell there may even be some there who has a trike and will take you for a spin.
Maaaate you will neever never know if you nevver ever have a go.

People assume that trikes are safer and easier to ride than a motorcycle because they aren't inclined to fall over. A motorcycle in motion is very stable but because there are only two wheels, you lean to steer which makes it very agile. In my opinion, trikes have the negatives of a motorcycle (little crash protection) and a car (less agility). You get the worst of both worlds.
They're generally for people who want the experience of a motorcycle but are too timid to just get on a motorcycle.

On a trike, you tend to steer more than lean to corner.
Take a corner too fast, and the inside tends to lift on you, flipping in the worse case scenario.
Plus, forget about splittin' lanes.
But hey! ya won't fall over if ya forget to put your foot down at a stop!

Not necessarily. They don't turn as sharply. You have to lean harder to make turns. If you are used to riding 2 wheelers...A Trike takes a little time to get used to. The upside is they don't tip over as easily and on long journeys (highways) you don't get as road weary.

At speeds under 40mph, they're not to bad. But put some speed under them and they're very unpredictable and don't turn. That's why the Jap off-road ATC's were discontinued and went to 4 wheel ATV's. To many accidents and law suits from 3 wheeler accidents..

Hiya ILAND, A 3 wheeler is odd to learn to ride if you've rode 2 wheelers. on a bike, even if ya don't know it, you start a left turn by pulling yer bike to the right to get it to lean left( odd,eh )

No and neither is one with a side car You have to steer these things cause leaning into a curve cannot be done You have to have a special endorsement on your license for these.too.
