I have been interested in a modeling career for awhile, and many people advised me to get into modeling. I'd really enjoy modeling for popular brands clothing, etc and more, but don't know which of them are scams and which aren't.

http://www.sixteenmodel.com will really help you if you are serious about modeling. They will even build you a custom website if you show your serious. 100% FREE
http://www.onemodelplace.com is a good place to find photographers. You can add your bio free, but are limited to only a few low resolution photos. Just be sure to check out the photographers before accepting anything, because there are some shady activity going on with some people listed there.
http://www.mymodelingagency.com/ is good if you already have your modeling website. They get a fair amount of traffic. They allow you to list your site free.

FORD MODELING is a great one. So is ELITE MODELS and the place used on America's Next Top Model.

Try looking for a local division of the screen actors guild-they can help you find an agent and ultimately the right place to showcase your talent
