Alright... I took my friends computer in to format and reinstall windows. After installing everything, i had to setup outlook for him. He has a Road Runner Account (Houston). I have a DSL account from SBC yahoo (AT&T). I have setup outlook PERFECTLY! with the exact settings. I am able to send emails BUT not receive them. After much research, i suspect that Road Runner blocks email requests (even though its a RR account) if generated from a different ISP user. like me (who uses SBC YAHOO dsl) trying to setup a road runner account.

Please tell me if this is possible, or am i making a mistake in the settings. If im not then i can just give the computer to him and it will run fine. If i am making a mistake.. help...

I don't think you did anything wrong. I have road runner and when on the road (not using road runner service), I also have trouble with outlook.

Road runner does have web-based email that your friend can use while on the road.

You have to change the incoming mail server(POP3) to road runner POP3 server name(which i believe "pop-server.sc.rr.com" - but check out before making changes), because you are receiving mails through road runner email address not SBC yahoo.

Now do remember this will only work at your place not at your friends location. For him, at his location where its road runner ISP incoming & outgoing server names should be of road runner.

Try this out. This should help you.
