I worked in a call center once, and couldn't stand wearing a headset for 8-9 hours at a time.
Keep in mind that some studies say that excessive usage of cellular and some cordless phones will make you infertile and give you brain cancer.

Sometimes the phone makes me really impatient. And I have a tendency to have a sarcastic tone to my voice when I am tired, which people might mistake for me not wanting to talk to them. And if I get disappointed about something they say, the long pause is a dead give away that my feelings are hurt when I don't want anyone to know that! Phone conversation gives you no ability to be mysterious. I prefer email, so I can say what I mean, and take the time to be polite.

I hate talking on the phone, too. Invariably, when the phone rings, I am rarely in the mood to talk or have something else to do, like sleep, take care of my son, make dinner, etc. Because I feel so inconvenienced taking most calls, I also hate to call others, feeling that I will be a nuisance to them. I just always feel like I am bothering people, even thoug people complain that I never call them. I just tell them that I need phone therapy.

Hmmm females seem to be better in phone situations than men. Most men I know hate talking on the phone. They aim only to make their point, women many times aim to make small talk but more importantly make a connection in some form or another. Even if that requires talking about nothing. Men hate that. many times.

I feel the same as you. I really dislike the phone whether it is business or social. Luckily most of my friends and family know how I feel, so they are not offended if I sound abrupt. When the phone rings in our house I always leave it for someone else to answer. You won't find me rushing to pick it up. :)

Yes, females are the ones who spend mroe usage on the phone. So they are the ones who are causing those HIGH phone bills. Trust me I would know. Not pleasant situations. But men on the other hand make it easier.

Like me, you are NOT a phone person. I can't stand to lisen to some one stretching a story out, complaining and other things they do. I have more to do than hang on a phone. Good luck. Pops

Yep...me too...I hate phones...that's why I don't have one. I love my privacy and if someone wants to get a hold of me then they can email me.
