To deliver both sides of the argument. Why shouldn't evolution and creation be taught? Why can't religion be taught???Not that it's right or wrong but just the facts. Not just Christianity, but all religions. I was never taught what other religions believe. But if its from a factual perspective...what's wrong with that?? Schools are for education...why not educate.
p.s. a "theory" in science does not mean "a guess." Look it up.

Because it is the best-supported theory we have as to how human beings came into existence right now. Many creationists say, "See, it is just a theory!", as if that means that it is just a random guess. However, what was originally just a guess as to what seemed to fit the facts has been tested again and again for many decades now, without failing. And that is how the scientific method works - we can NEVER "prove" something, only try to disprove it. And if something survives repeated efforts to disprove it, we accept it and teach it unless we eventually come up with a stronger explanation. The problem with creationism is that not only can it never be proven, it can never be disproven either, since it asks you to take what realistically sound like very unlikely facts on faith. And while faith has its value, it basically asks you to accept something without testing it to see if it is true or not. I'm not saying that faith is in any way a bad thing, but it is NOT scientific proof.

Every generation has a responsibility to pass on to the next generation the human compendium of what we have objectively learned up to that point. In a democracy, public schools are a common ground where objective findings are shared with the next generation. Evolution is an objective finding. Many people with subjective, or, cultural beliefs do not want their children to learn about objective findings. They should send their children to religious schools or homeschool but they should not attempt to force their particular subjective beliefs on other people's children in a common ground school where objective facts are to be taught.

Because science is taught in schools. Science works, and it matters. It should be taught to youth in a technological society unless we want to degenerate into a Dark Ages. If you're going to teach science at all, you teach biology, and the state of the art in biology is a sophisticated and complex modern Theory of Evolution.

Creation ideas could also be taught, but under the heading of Philosophy.

Because it is science. It is backed by evidence and can make predictions. Creationism and ID have no evidence and can make no predictions. They do not advance the fields of genetics, biology, and immunology, not to mention social science fields, the way evolution does. If we stop teaching evolution, just stop going to your doctor - many modern medicines were developed using evolutionary theory.

Evolution is a finely crafted and theory which has been subjected to continuous scrutiny and which creates a strong theoretical framework for the study of biology. Despite the rantings of a vocal minority that is incapable of accepting the theory despite extensive evidence, the theory is robust and offers a framework for critical reasoning.

Evolution should NOT be taught in school, because people have different views on what is right. Teaching an opinion is not really teaching anything.

Because it is science & TRUE!!.. You take a look & study to inform yourself...that narrow minded Christian baloney is just thick headed & meant many years ago to control the idea that He is an ungforgiving God....wrong! He knows every one of us intimately & also the reasons all living things have adapted for millions of years. He enjoys it.
