what's the point of anime? you ask, well it's what the other's are saying here. only that this Explaintion's better.

There really is no point if you ask me. It's just a style of animation thats created in Japan. Other countries make their own cartoons as well. But dont make a big statement as Japanese animation. I guess one so called point that you can make about it is that most of it are either for the young adult to mature age. Its rarely for kids although that US licensers like 4kids dub it down for kid viewing.
Anime can sometimes develop weird stories. But its up to the viewer to deem if it is good, awefull, or downright makes no damn sense. Either way, it's the people that make anime thrieve. So, simply put, there is no true point.

Anime is just a style of animation from Japan.
I don't know how old you are or what your ethnicity is, but look at the cartoons you've watched when you were younger that made you smile/laugh. It's the same thing for people who like anime. It's all just the same I gues s

What is the point of film?
What is the point of painting ?
What is the point of music?
What is the point of drawning?
What is the point of photography?

Simple to show one own artistic idea or vision.

on a side not the money making part is pretty cool too.

This also rings true for many of american cartoons as well.

I really don't know... it seems pointless to me, I personally HATE anime the way they look just pisses me off. Japanese people are trying to make money out it , it looks ssooo stupid.

but do not mistake that crap on american tv as anime.
if it is not subtitle and in japanese it is not anime
