I need to buy my mother a laptop because she is bed-ridden, but she is not at all computer savy. I would like to buy her a laptop that just has internet explorer, OR MAKE ONE?
Any sugesstions apprciated!

You see, in order for laptop or any computer to work he needs to have other software and hardware. You can't just have IE. You can have as little programs at possible though. Uninstall the ones that came preinstalled and do not install new ones. You're question should be: Where can I find a cheapest laptop. I would try eBay, or search cnet.com to see reviews and prices from different stores.

Yes. Just get the cheapest new one you can find with XP home. IE will be built in, with no major other software titles. Before you give it to her, delete everything but internet and MAYBE email.
You say she is bed-ridden. If she cannot sit up for a while, you may think of getting one of those indestructable laptops you see on the cable shopping shows. Sorry, but I dont remember the name of the brand. I think it was shop NBC. You will find it there.

laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market, the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online. these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half. one such website for laptop computers is :

u could remove off all the other programs that are on the computer so that she only has the internet....... if that is wut u want...
