Yes they are. It's the only legal way for them to get out of an indecent exposure charge too.

First, we don't call them "colonies" but "resorts" or "clubs".
Second, gawking will get someone thrown out.
As an old nudist, I'm pretty used to seeing other people nude & I still prefer to look at my wife even though there are always younger ladies there as well.

I don't know about colonies.......but we have a nudist beach here and it's just really mostly gay men.
