If you are looking into going to college:
1. Good Grades
2. Time Management skills
3. Logic and self- discipline
I know way toooooo many smart kids who went off to college who could do the work, but couldn't manage their time or get their class work done, because there is no one standing over you making sure you do it. I've also seen too many people who don't have the logic and self-discipline to make themselves do what needs to be done instead of having fun all the time.

just three? I think it's important to not only have the good grades, the electives(2nd language, art things like that) the college prep classes and the involvement in student council, but i think it's very important that a child know the responsibility of credit, paying bills, balancing a check book, financial aid, its the every day things that a child does not learn when going off after graduation. teach your child or ask your parents. The one thing I wish i would have done is go t my hs counselor, they are a great help

1. don't be a quitter. if you start something, you have to finish it.
2. aim high. aim for 100s, if you fall short, you won't fall far from an A.
3. discipline yourself. make your own decisions and know how to weigh pros and cons in every situation.

Depends on whether the student plans to attend college.
If college is in his future, I'd recommend:
1. good grades
2. school activities
3. AP (advanced placement) courses
