As you seem to be aware of, irregular periods can be "normal" when a girl first starts to have her periods. I would start monitoring the problem by recording on a calendar when your period starts, when it ends and how heavy it is on each day that you have it. I would also record on that calendar when you were having cramps. After keeping track of this for 3-6 months, if things haven't "normalized," I'd come see my doc about it and bring your calendar with the recordings with you.

Okay, first of all don't worry about the cramps! THey are just your vaginal muscles contracting. And until you become VERY regular, you don't know when it's coming! It sucks, I know!! Just carry a purse most every where you go and keep your "protection" in it and also keep some in your backpack and if anyone in your class figures out what your doing with your purse or backpack at school, deny it all especially if it's a boy who figures it out trust me it works!! Or if you are wearing a hoodie or if your clothing has pockets on it then just slip it in there when no one is looking!!Hope I helped!!!!
P.S. I'm 12 too!!!

aww hunny you are completely normal, you just gotta stick out the cramps and irregularity of it for a little while. the cramps will always be there and you will find ways to ease them and make them go away, but your period will start to come at more regular times, and soon you will be on the usual 28 day cycle like the rest of us :) good luck hun

I asked my girlfriend about it and she said: "The cramps are a signal that the period will be coming within a week. While at school, be sure to wear dark pants and go to the bathroom on a regular basis."

Oh sweetie, get used to the cramps. sorry, it's just part of it. They have great cramp meds out there though. As far as when it comes & goes, no one can say for sure. I'm 35 & still couldn't bet when it will rear it's ugly head. You could talk to someone about birth control. it does help regulate, so you will know. Talk to your Mom or whom ever you have. The school nurse or counselor. There will be someone who can help you. Good Luck Sweetheart & welcome to Woman Hood!!

Sweetie -- first you need to talk to your mother. If that isn't possible you need to go to some other adult woman in your ife that you trust and can talk about things like this. A public message board may not be the proper place.

You need to be asking a Gynecologist these questions. Have your mom make you an appointment. Nobody's periods are the same.
