Drugs are not legal in Mexico even tho there are drugs in mexico. What is really amazing tho is that the same cops that will arrest a person in mexico for illegal drugs is also collecting big money from the ones selling the drugs. Prostitution is not legal either it is only allowed . in other words when the cops want to they can arrest someone for prostitution and when they have better things to do they could careless if they are doing it in the street in an alley some where . Making drugs legal as in amsterdam would stop alot of crime and lower everyones taxes since there wouldnt be so many people in jail and there would be less addicts since there wouldnt be such a want to be doing drugs. It would probably break hollywood since all the drug movies would be no big thing any more and then all the drug cartels would be a thing of the past and the drug runners would be out of work along with all the hit men and then the gov. wouldnt be making all the billions on the drug money they rake in doing drug busts. THe US is sadly built on crime and the criminal minded and the assurance that there will always be a fresh supply of new people to feed the kitty. Prostitution and drugs is to big of a business to allow it to go legal. Prostitutes and getting high has been around since the begining of time and will never stop this is why it is illegal because it provides constant guarunteed cash coming in for alot of people , the people that make the rules. Heres proof as to what I am saying about the big guys. The people of california voted and made marijuana legal but the big guys said oh hell no we cant have that we will loose to much money if that happens so even tho the people of california voted yes the federal gov. says no way . ALl the police departments are given a budget by the big guys and if a police department makes a big big multi billion dollar bust with real estate and the whole 9 yards where does all that cash go.>? sure not to be spent by that police department. It goes to the federal gov. and they still only recieve thier budget. San diego makes billions in drug busts but yet all the cops are leaving the force to go other places because they wont get a raise for the next five years. You see the ones sitting behind a desk in office no way will give up all that cash they get to even share some with the ones who are in reality making it for them and protecting the country. I say it would make things better but it will never happen.

Your buddy is a moron. The Netherlands have a protracted historical past of social tolerance. Prostitution has been authorized within the Netherlands for decades. Prostitutes belong to unions and are field to govt legislation and steady wellbeing and security tests. All flawlessly authorized and above-board. This continues them from being abused, diseased, and crushed or killed. Drugs like hashish had been quasi-authorized for rather a whilst as good. You should purchase and smoke dope in cafes and coffeehouses. This coverage continues drug use below a few manipulate and, to a couple measure, defuses the capabilities for the forms of drug wars that different nations enjoy. These matters had been absolutely authorized earlier than homosexual marriage was once legalized within the Netherlands.

I think it would. If we legalized drugs then we could tax them just like cigarrettes and alcohol. The jails and courts would not be full and they would have more time to get the real criminals like murderers, thieves, child molesters etc. Then these drug dealers would be out of a job. Why make them rich when that tax money could be spent on better things in the USA.People are going to do drugs and get prostitutes wheather it's legal or not. Just look at how full our jails and prisons are now. Maybe, if it wasn't against the law, it wouldn't be as fun. We could at least try it for a couple of years and if it wasn't any better, then go back to the way it was. It couldn't be much worse. It's not working now anyway..

Legalization of drugs would allow more people to start taking drugs. A person isn't very productive when they are high, so less work would get done. I don't see how the legalization of prostitution could be bad. If it is regulated, then the threat of STDs would be lessened.

Yes. When the drug called alcohol was made illegal by Prohibition in the early 20th century the crime rate in the US skyrocketed like never before especially organized crime, just like organized crime and other drug related crimes dominate all crime in the US. Prostitution is again run by organized crime and is extremely lucrative for them & law enforcement can't even reduce it much less stop it. Legalizing prostitution would end organized crimes grip on it and would save thousands of abused women and the US Govt. would get billions in new tax revenue.

I lived in the Netherlands in 94-97. I lived in Vassanar (spelling?) near the Hague and near the capitol. Not very pleasant country sometimes. I was young at the time and in the city it was pretty nasty some times.

Prostitution is illegal? I guess it depends on which state you live in.

What would be the long term benefits to legalizing drugs in the US? It will be abused no matter what the status is. This is not a win/win solution.

Absolutely not! Think of all the prison guards who would lose their jobs. And what about those poor gangsters whose profits would eveporate because all the dopers would supply their own stashes. What are you thinking!
