It depends on what your associates degree is for and where you are living. I have an associates of applied science (paralegal) and it is a tough job market out there, just being out of school, with no real hands on experience. If your looking to get an associates degree I would highly reccomend something basic, like; accounting, business management, or medical transcription.

At this time an ADN (Associate Degree In Nursing) is an excellent opportunity. With this you can earn an RN Licensure and pretty much get a job anywhere you want. The only thing that might be limited is the fact that it may or may not be NLN accredited, which means if you get your BSN, the original licensure may keep you from getting a Federal Job in the Military. The other thing to contend with is the waiting lists to get into school. Also, you have to take some prerequisites that may set you back a year or two. The average starting wage for a full time RN, at their first step of employment is about 36.00 an hour. Keep in mind though, that most people go in for the money and find they truly don't enjoy the work.
