If stem cell research can be done without harming a single fetus, would you be for it or opposed to it? 90% of stem cells can come from an umbilical cord instead of an aborted fetus. That being said, do you still believe that it is immoral? Why?

Would you like engineered humans to look like half humans and half animals, for example? There are many reasons why stem-cell research can prove dangerous for humanity as we know it now. Food engineering led to many disasters because a lack of control and regulation in the industries dabbing in it. Imagine the disasters resulting from unregulated human engineering. How valuable human life can become if mass produced human babies with chosen characteristics will become available for sale on line, for example? Is it moral? Who, when, and how is going to stop this? Is research of human stem-cell moral? Research might be moral but the ensuing uses for the new technologies might not be.

A recent discovery suggests stem cells can be derived from a fetus without harming it. And even in the case that some embryos are harmed, the research is progressing so rapidly that there will be new discoveries in stem cell research soon that avoid destroying embryos. (Scientists need to find out how to avoid destroying embryos and they can't do that by doing nothing.)

So really, unless a fetus is somehow worth more than an adult life (say someone with Parkinson's or someone who is paralyzed), stem cell research is mandatory.

Why? If we can help people who are dying too young from disease or who have lost the ability to move/breath (paralysis), then we must. Otherwise, human beings are suffering and dying needlessly.

I support it completely. Even if using an aborted fetus. I am pro-choice, so I support a woman's right to choose. but if she is going to have the abortion anyway, why should it be for nothing? Why can't it count towards something that will make a difference? For all of you who consider abortion murder(I don't), why should that fetus die in vain?

Only IF the cells come from the umbilical cord and not the fetus, should it be done.

I think we need more stem cell research to cure medical conditions and not less of it. But then I have a medical disease called galactosemia.
