Run disk cleanup....
Start/Programs/Accessories/System/System Tools/Disk Cleanup.

First try going to start, control panel, then add and remove programs, go through that list and decide what you need and don't and uninstall the stuff you don't. Also perform regular maintance like disk defragment, and most important disk clean up. Or just get rid of the crap you don't use. worst comes worst upgrade to a larger harddrive there pretty cheap nowadays

You should seperate your personal downloads/multimedia from applications and system files.

Back up your data to cd-rom or dvd-rom
