first being able to run a mile is great, but you dont want to train in distances if you are going to do sprints, they are two very different forms of running (sprints you bring your knees straight up and down pumping with bent arms while distance is with strides and more relaxed arms at like a 90deg angle)
try practicing running in form, straight up and down with your elbows meeting your ears and keeping your arms straight up and down... not swinging like a lot of runners do so their body is rotating. Also you should learn how to "cut" which is when you go around on the sides you should never turn, but go to the outside and slowly step to your left to make the turn so it looks like > instead of a sidewards u, that will increase your time a lot.
Also condition, workout with medicine balls, do crunches with them, toss it with a parnter, work out your abs as much as you can, do leg lifts and work out your legs in the gym, stretch... which is very important... make sure to also stretch your archilles tendon. Also eat more protein and keep hydrated. Good luck!!! PS... do pole vault too... its the best!!!

Work your way up till you can run atleast 5miles without stopping. This will give you the strength you need in your legs, and the lung capacity you will need to keep up. Also if you want to do sprints you need to do some speed work, like ten sprints as fast as you can. Basically just start practicing everything you want to do, that is about all you can od in a month.

I don't know about specifics, but maybe whatever I mention will not be mentioned by someone else and will be of help to you. Probably not.. but:
start off at your regular speed then try to decrease every week your mile by 1 minute less by trying your hardest day after day, Eventually your body will reach a limit though and you will be going the fastest you will be going. Drink some protein shakes. Try out some new warm-ups or exercises/drills to help train your muscles.

1 mile in 7 minutes is good. Maybe you can get a personal trainer to help. If not, talk to the track coach to get some pre-season advice. Maybe look at the internet for some drills.
