i get "messenger service" pop ups like crazy!?

so i know its spyware, i just installed a new mobo cpu and fresh copy of xp and this pops up. im connected through cable internet. im using latest mozilla and avg. no virus found. i run se personal and it finds 13 objects. how the hell do i get rid of this damn thing?
i already turned the messenger service off but thats not a fix to this. please the simplest fix wins 10 points and my gratitude.

i already ran spyware removal tools and it still doesnt do it. thats what se personal does. so how do i actually remove this from my computer?

Do you have a good firewall? You need one if you are on broadband, your router should have one built into it.
