I'm a college student and I need some strategies for managing my time. How might I go about planning my time and fitting in studying without feeling like it's taking away from my free time? And also, how can I combat procrastinating (I'm very very good at procrastinating...).

do all your homework first before doing anything else like watching tv...trust me, I'm a huge procrastinator and i'm still learning how to manage my time also

i know it's hard to follow my advice but when you actually follow through, you'll feel so thankful...bcuz then u can have time to do fun things

i'm in high school and this year has been really stressful and i try to not procrastinate as much...if i don't do hw until the last minute, i am staying up all night...i've pulled so many all-nighters, even staying up as late as 4 am (and i only got 2 hours of sleep)...
don't do the same thing i did (staying up) cuz you'll just feel like crap when u go to school that morning

so, DO HOMEWORK RIGHT AWAY AND DON'T PUT IT OFF TO THE LAST MINUTE!!! or else your grades will suffer!

hope this helps...=]

Procrastination is probably the root cause of the problem here.... You've got 7 days in a week - take less than half (3 days) and 3 1/2 hours per day (less than 1/6th of your entire day) and dedicate that time to study. If you find a quiet coffee house, comfy chair at the library, private place in your home, etc you can easily study for your designated time frame and not feel like you've given up your entire life to do so. Just put up the calendar and decide where you can fit in study sessions around your classes and other activities and stick to it. Grab a buddy and ask them to do the same - then you'll have someone to keep you honest!

Good Luck

One tip: ask yourself, "what's the best use of my time right now?" The answer will vary depending on how much time you have available, but there's always something you can do to fill a spare minute or two, and get some annoying little task out of the way. And one more tip: look at the things you need to get done, and ask, "what's the nearest threat? Next nearest threat?" and so on, so that you're cognizant of the order in which you have to do things.

Do it as soon as it comes in. Once you get an assignment just do it, or do a little of it. And then do a little each day or crank it out. Do work during the day (afternoon) instead of the evening, because you will feel less pressured. If you start early you can find questions or problems that you have and can possibly go to the professor and see if he can explain it.

1) Set targets
2) List activities involved
3) Set priorities as per your target
4) Note expected time to complete each activity
5) Do back calculation and start accordingly
6) Drop some activities if not required to meet your target
7) Keep 1/2 hour minimum in hand.

-Multitask, combine two activities into one somehow
-Get others to do your work
-Study with a group, it's much faster and helpful
-Bribe self with goodies
-Trick self into thinking the due date is earlier than it really is?
