Stalling, sluggish, hard to start sometimes, etc. Only way to tell for certain is to make sure you have a good clean filter on it and then do a volume test and pressure test under load. They commonly go bad on GM cars of your era starting at 30,000 miles and up. I saw one on a friend's Malibu go out at 33,000 almost on the dot.

You need a ohms/volt meter.
Here is how to find out.
Jack up the car and safely support the car.
Back by the gas tank you will find a plug.
Turn on the key and prob for voltage at this plug. YOu should get 12-13 volts when the key is turned on.
If not crank the car and again check for voltage.
If there is voltage then the pump is most likly bad.
If there is no voltage it can be any of the following
#1 Bad reley
#2 Blown fuse
#3 Bad wires.
#4 Bad enersa switch.

have some one turn the key on while you put your head by the gas tank, with the key on you should here the fuel pump run for just a second or two. Also you can locate the fuel filter on the frame rail,(probably on the passenger side), and remove the fuel line and with the key turned on fuel should run out the line for a couple of seconds.

sometimes it just stops running . if i am not mistaken fuel pump is in the fuel tank and is electric.anyways could possibly cause the car to surge or stall and might restart again but most time just stop. remember it is electric so power could cause it to stop. e.g. blown fuse in fusebox broken wire chafed wire grounded out.if i were to check it out i would check for power 12 volt first or check for fuel leak before engine

When you turn on the ignition, can you hear a humming sounds from under the back seat. You can spray a little bit of starting fluid into the throttle body and see if it starts. If it doesn't start, it is not fuel related.
