Nah, it's done by bajillions of women the world over. Don't skip more than 2 periods in a row without consulting your doc, though. The problem with doing it with Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo is that that pill is triphasic instead of monophasic... so instead of having a consistent dose of hormones for 42 days when you skip the pill, you have two distinct waves of hormones over those 42 days.
The result? You may spot. Or you may not (heh, rhymes). But health-wise it's fine.

If you're wanting to skip just one you shouldn't have any weird side effects. Just remember that it may take skipping more than one set of placebo pills depending on your body.
Also, even if you do it every pack, it's smart to go ahead and take a break after so many skips. Your doctor can tell you what the best number of cycles to skip for you would be.

That's the theory behind Seasonale, which has a woman go for 3 months on active hormone pills before the placebos. Seasonale is the only one FDA approved for this method, but it should work equally well for all, at least in theory.

I honestly can't say from experience, but from my understanding starting the next round it would basically just make your body think it's not time to do that part yet. I think that's the basis of the four time a year pills anyhow. Probably would be ok, but I'd ask the doctor real quick just to be sure.

I've done it before on a few other b.c. with no problems. As long as the 4th week are nothing but placebos, you should be fine, but call your dr's office or ask the pharmacist to be sure.
Or you can check into Seasonale.
