The logo was changed last year to PetSmart with Pet being in blue and Smart being in red.
This is a portion of the press release that was issued 8/25/05

In the television ads they are now saying "that's smart, PetSmart"

Pet's Mart...It's a MART for pets. Like a place to but pet stuff. I always wondered the same thing

i talked to the owner about this one i thought long and hard about it he said it is pets mart because its a mart for pets to shop at. :)
