The term "precognition" is a label applied to the psychic phenomenon of allegedly knowing in advance what the future will bring. This can involve either knowing a person's future thoughts, which is called precognitive telepathy, or knowing the nature of future events, which is called precognitive clairvoyance. To qualify as precognition, such knowledge must not be derived from normal senses of mathematical deductions. An example of precognition would be dreaming of a car accident the night before such an accident actually occurs.
PREMONITION is "Anticipation of an event without conscious reason."

The word Premonition refers to a situation when future events are foreknown or forecast. Premonitions are attributed to the presence of supernatural or paranormal abilities
Precognition is a form of extra-sensory perception. Believers in precognition say it allows a "percipient" to perceive information about future places or events before they happen (as opposed to merely predicting them based on deductive reasoning and current knowledge).
The Cassandra Syndrome is a term applied to predictions of doom about the future that are not believed, but upon later reflection turn out to be correct. This denotes a psychological tendency among people to disbelieve inescapably bad news, often through denial. The person making the prediction is caught in the dilemma of knowing what is going to happen but not being able to resolve the problem without the cooperation of others.

No they are not. A premonition is a prediction that something will happen. Just saying that you believe something is going to happen, based on a dream, a vision, or whatever.
Precognition is an understanding of something, before it happens. I think, like you were actually there! Even though it hasn't happened yet.
Precognition is the direct knowledge of the future, through extra sensory means.

No. Premonition is more like a 'gut feeling' or 'knowing', while precognition is more based on visions and images.
