try a cocktail dress
something that comes just to the knees most likely a solid color (blacks reds blues...)
a small pattern works too, maybe a few flowers on it or something

this is pretty fancy for a cocktail dress, if your cocktail reception is more casual, find a more casual dress..

A Little black dress would be cute! Anything in the darker color range is good.Maybe like a black dress with a big red belt around your waste! Always paired with a black heel and a cute handbag!!!!! hehe
