Jared lived on the third floor of an apartment building in Bloomington, Indiana where he attended Indiana University at the time he lost his weight. On the first floor of the apartment building was a Subway restaurant and is still there today. So the obvious convenience of having a healthy meal twice right below him a day made it easy for him to stick to the diet. While sticking to Subway only for the amount of time required to lose all of his weight is highly unlikely, he probably did eat Subway the majority of the time. There is also no other restaurants within a few blocks from the apartment building. There are pictures of Jared in the Subway on the walls.

I worked at Subway when Jared's story became a large marketing strategy. Jared honestly lost the weight by following a Subway diet. He always walked to Subway for lunch and had a 6" turkey with veggies. No cheese or condiments. He walked to Subway again for dinner and had a footlong veggie sub (again with no cheese or condiments). I really don't know if he still follows the diet or if he's had any surgeries since then. I'm sure he signed a contract stating that he would maintain his weight and not gain any. I bet the money and fame is a HUGE motivation to stay thin.

Maybe it was only a part of it. But for subway to promote that eating their subs will make people lose weight if false advertisement. Say a fat person who likes to eat and wants an easy way to lose weight - they might look at this as an easy way out. But even if you are just eating the subs you're still not getting a balanced meal. The bread that they use is not the healthies (meaning it does not have 3 or more grams of fiber per serving =which is the least recommeneded dose to keep you full) and the meat that's in the subs does not have enough protein or fiber either to keep you full therefore you're hungry and will end up eating more than you want to.

Subway was part of it. And choosing the healthier sandwiches played a part too. Subway has a range where the sandwiches are under 6grams of fat. And Jared did not have dressings for his sandwiches which are lesser in calories too.

He also walked to school everyday which acts as a form of exercise. To lose weight does not only happen by changing your eating lifestyle. You have to become more active physically.

He11 no who would eat that much sandwiches even though Subway's sandwiches are good. Its just a commercial trying to get people's $ by saying you can lose so much weight just by eating at Subway.

If all he ate was ,let's say 2 subs a day, I believe that it would be possible.
I tried the same thing 32 years ago by just eating one healthy meal a day and keeping active but I had the help of "Living better
through Chemistry" if you know what I mean. Today I'm 100 lbs.
overweight and eat what I want cause I like to eat.

He lost all the weight from changing his life style completly, not directly subway. He could have picked a different food (healthy of course) and made all the changes to diet and training that he did and still have lost same amount of weight.

no he din't loss all that weight from just eating subway. HE would walk to subway which is 2 miles and then he would walk back home which is another 2 miles. So subway didn't just help the walking did too.

Yes, I believe that Jared did loose the weight, but with a little help from diet and excercise.

I would say NO because he would have to work out also. Plus he would have had to eat more than just the sandwiches to be healthy.
