you need to heat them up.Get a glass bowl of boiling water and put the pinkie in a ziplock bag and out it in the bowl. wait until it is not frozen. There is no other alternative unless you would like to purchase another king snake so they can try to eat each other.LOL . The snake requires the heat to sense it-they do not eat dead animals, so you have to "trick" him into thinking it is alive. as well, snakes can go a very long time without eating. Our African Ball Python didn't eat for 4 months, no matter what we did.

Warm the pinkie up to slightly above room temp. Also, you can wiggle the pinkie using tweezers to give the food motion, snakes will chase a moving target. You can take a pin or sharp knife & open up the pinkie's skull & expose the brain. The scent is much stronger & attractive to the snake. Lastly, you can use a product called "Make a Lizard". It's a liquid that you can find in most pet shops that handle herps. You put a drop on the head of the warmed up pinkie & it smells like a lizard(big suprise!) which young king snakes eat quite frequently in the wild.

Live food (mice, etc.). Also, a snake's jaws can dis-articulate, & all quadriped mammals' legs fold back when swallowed head first, so a snake can actually swallow larger food than you might think. Rules of thumb: it can swallow a mouse or rat as wide as the widest part of the snake's body (i.e., not its head). Snakes often eat less in the winter, so make sure you're keeping its cage warm enough.
