I just started a new job yesterday. While I was at work my ankle started to hurt so bad that I couldnt stand it. The pain was soo unbearable. I came home and put ice on it. It is swollen but I dont have insurance so I cant see a doctor. If I did decide to go to the doctor I would miss work. I was off today and it still hurts sooo bad. There is nothing that I can think of that could have caused this at work. I didnt say anything because I didnt want my boss to think that I was unreliable. Tomorrow I go back and this time I have to climb ladders. I think I may have sprained my inner ankel. Should I tell my boss or should I just tough it out? I dont want him to see me as a liability. What should I do?

I'd go to work if I were you and show him/her (your boss) extactly what the problem is. It's one thing to show someone in person and a totally different thing to call from home and try to explain yourself. I'm not saying to tough it out at all. You should NOT be climbing ladders with a swolen ankle and run the risk of further injuring yourself and possibly others as well. Show your boss. He/She should understand and should be able to suggest a solution and should even respect your honesty and open-ness(word?). Don't hide your injury.

Either go to work or go to the doctor and bring back and excuse. As a manager I would not want you there if you couldn't work...then I am paying you to stand around. Also, you could hurt your ankle worse and then be out of work longer - hence really leaving them in a lurch.

Would've gotten that put on record as soon as it happen, if it didn't hurt till after you got there, you hurt it there. Here's a clue, big business , business's,don't give a Damn about you, your just a number.
If you fall due to this, that's on you, take care of you, big business, business's, always takes care of itself. It also don't like hearing "NEGATIVE" on the job especially when its not in their favor. I'm over 47 years in the job force and its gone from a take care of the employee to a screw the employee, trust me on that. My up coming retirement will match my monthly earnings, which is good, but cost of living always goes up.

ok, you are not a liability, just you have a little of pain(..), its better if you tell to your boss and explain to him what happen, try to make a deal to have some days of rest , or to work more for miss work, i dont know, i left you in you criteria.

wrap you ankle well, put arnica gel on it -it will help with swelling and bruising- and tell your boss that you don't think it will be a problem but should you notice me moving slowly that is why.

tell him that if u continued u might be injered for longer andask if he will plz let go and tell him ull try to make up the hours lost

You need to tell your boss. They'll be very interested to know this-not to get rid of you, but as OSHA requirements.

Aww :( feel better!! and i would tell your boss...its not like you did this to yourself on purpose...for me on the other hand, i got really sick and told my boss's and brought a Doctor's note, and they cut my hours :(
