Yeah, it can happen. It really depends on the genes you inherited from your parents. If you are balding at 17, and I know it can be embarrassing, I suggest you use a trustworthy hair-growth formula or get a toupee.
Or, you put too much gel in your hair. Sometimes if you put excessive amounts of gel in your hair, it causes some of your hairs to fall out, but you're not going to get bald if it's this case. I've had a lot of experience with this lol :)

Hair falls out more in the fall. However, depends on where it is falling out. Male pattern baldness can start in your teens, usually begins in the back on top, and also your hairline starts receding. If you have baldness in your family, they can tell you when it started. I know some guys that were clearly balding at your age; not a lot to do for it.

Stress can tribute to balding or greying at a young age. However, peoples' hair follicles have different life spans in each person, and some shed a lot more than others, just to have the hair grow back at the same rate. It is also reported that seasonal changes contribute to hair growth and loss.

It is possible, my good friend was bald by 18. But humans usually lose at least a hundred hairs a day anyway.

During the winter, I shed hair, it is normal. However, I do know one or two people who started balding young, but haven't lost most of their hair. If this is new, then it could be. Wait it out, there's nothing you can really do about it anyway.

if you want to know ask your father. when and if he's been balding. you have the same gene your father has. don't freak out yet. do some family history investigating first.
