You have a virus, malware, or a problem with some piece of software. Try some of the tools below if you cannot use liveupdate.

Can you boot into safe mode? If you can, you probably start in safe mode with network support and then do the upgrade while in safe mode.

If you do not have that option in safe mode, because you didn't mention what o/s you use, I recommend that you boot into safemode anyway and run a virus scan on your computer.
