I was watching "In the Womb", a show on the Discovery channel and they said that a woman's body tells her what not to eat during pregnancy because the smell will make her sick, and they were specific to say mushrooms. So why should a woman not eat mushrooms during pregnancy?

I also ate mushrooms while pregnant, the smell didn't bother me.

Why would anyone eat poisionous ones anyway?

Ive always eaten mushrooms with all my pregnancies. Its just something that may make a women sicker than other foods. She may have aversions to fish, or mushrooms, or beef. It just depends on the woman.

I haven't heard anything about mushrooms being bad. Perhaps they were talking about pica in reference to women eating things they shouldn't? Like wild mushrooms?

Anything is okay to eat in moderation and if it's properly prepared. I couldn't eat pizza with my first. With my youngest ALL meat tasted nasty like liver. I love liver but when you eat chicken and taste liver, I don't think so!!!

I have never heard that one, perhaps because they're a fungus. I have heard that you shouldn't eat lunch meat because there is sommething that something in it.

You should not because there are rare illnesses the fetus can get from the mushroom fungi
