What i need to know is that if you miss a payment not knowing you missed when because your employer was taking it out that month but used it for the following month the, and you have arrears from not even knowing this child existed until recently, i know the charge interest, but is it monthly or yearly ?????? Please share all the info you have on this. Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Interest is generally charged on a monthly basis (only on the amount unpaid). You may want to clarify if the state your order is in charges interest on PAST SUPPORT (past support differs from arrears. Arrears are unpaid amounts of a monthly child support obligation. Past support is support which was ordered prior to your court appearance and establishment of an order--ie your heaing was in May and the judge sets current support of $200/mo and PAST SUPPORT OF$800 for the months of Jan-April. My state only charges interest on the unmet obligation of current support since the order began. The $800 of past support will accrue no interest. HTHs!
