I just moved to Austin, Texas I want to persue my dream of modeling. Some have told me I have what it takes, others say that I don't. I'm 5'7'', slim but curvaceous, and a size 8. I've been told that I can't do runway because I'm too short. Is this true? I've also been told I'm not skinny enough to do regular runway, but I'm not qualified for plus sized either. Can anyone help me? I need to make a career move!

ok u are too short to do high fashion, kate moss is like the shortest high fashion model there is and she is 5'9''. so no high fashion runway stuff. but u could get into all types of other modeling, catalog work, promotional work for a private company, advertisements, print work, etc. and yes you can get a job as a runway model but its going to most likely be work with private shops. as a model myself i love runway but im super short but i've done runway work for bridal shows, department stores, freeze modeling (like in store windows), and fashion show at popular clubs. sodon't get dicuraged if u want to be a model you have to broden ur horizen out side of highfashion runway work. cuz even if u met the standards it is so super hard to get a break on that level

Honestly you shouldn't waste your time with modeling. Find a profession that you're sure to excel in. You may be beautiful, but alot of those models sacrifice their morals and health to become famous. And out of the THOUSANDS of young women that aspire to be models how many actually make it? It's a pretty sad figure. If you want to stay around fashion I'd suggest being a make-up artist, going to fashion school, or becoming a photographer. At-least with those jobs you'll have a steady paycheck.

Sorry of some people think I sound negative, but I just hate to see people waste 10 years of their lives on something that probably isn't going to happen.

(assuming that's you in the avatar)

You don't have that "model" look. Yes, you're attractive, but you're not WOW beautiful. To be considered model beautiful, you either have to be a classic beauty (Rachel McAdams/Heidi Klum) or be a classic beauty with a few VERY distinctive features (Angelina Jolie, Tyra Banks). But that's called "exotic". You can try - but unless you're super self-confident, the competition will get to you.
