First, keep in mind that top liberal arts colleges (yes, the expensive ones) often provide BETTER financial aid packages than less-expensive state schools. This is because they usually have large endowments, and can support their students to a greater degree. So if you have excellent SAT scores, don't discount schools like Amherst, Smith, Wellesley, Trinity, Brown, Bowdoin, Colby, Dartmouth, etc.

Second, the state schools in New England are excellent. The University of Vermont and UConn are quite good. UMass is ok.

I majored in Sociology and minored in English Lit at the University of TN at Chattanooga.

It was really affordable but that was in the 1990s, I don't know the tution now or the out of state fees. But if you want to look into it, its a great school and all of the professors are wonderful.

like the different individual reported college of Wisconsin at Madison is actual good. the only draw back to going to college there is that the winters are brutal. different than that, good college. you're able to be able to additionally prefer to look at college of Illinois at Urbana. this is the terrific college in Illinois and that they have an exceedingly good Sociology application. i understand some those that pass there and the scholars are great ordinary. examine it out ; )
