1. 0.4 = 4/10 = 2/5

This is because 0.4 is basically 4 out of ten. If there is 1 number behind the decimal, it is out of ten. Two numbers, then it is out of one hundred. Three, one thousand. And so on and so forth. 4/10 simplifies to 2/5.

2. 0.04 = 4/100 = 1/25

Ditto.

3. 0.84 = 84/100 = 44/50 = 22/25

Hope that works for ya. I'm sure it's right. =]

You can easily make each one into a fraction by dividing it by 100 to make 100 the denominator of the fraction. But to keep the same value you also have to multiply the number by 100 to make the new numerator for the top (top and bottom multiplied by same number doesn't change the value).

(1) Multiply 0.4 by 100 and get 40 for the numerator. You already know denominator is going to be 100. You get 40/100 for answer

(2)Multiply 0.04 by 100 and get 4 for the numerator. You already know denominator is going to be 100. You get 4/100 for answer

(3)Multiply 0.84 by 100 and get 84 for the numerator. You already know denominator is going to be 100. You get 84/100 for answer

You can figure out these questions by taking the number to the right of the decimal point and putting it on top of the fraction, and on the bottom put a 1 plus the number of places to the right of the decimal point as zeroes. Ex:

1.) .4=4/10
2.) .04=4/100
3.) .84=84/100

Now you just need to simplify the fractions.
