Well, as much as I love honesty, I have seen that backfire. You need something generic. Looking to experience growth...expand horizons....easier travel time elsewhere...changing direction...always say how much you respect the company, love your boss and appreciate all they have done. EVEN if it's BS.

You should not be trying to get something made up for this. Just say it how you feel be polite and yes maybe even politically correct, since one should not burn bridges that might have to cross again. So you can always say is personal reasons and or a better job opportunity, because of line of work, benefits or pay.

Why quit if it's a nice company but you are in the wrong department? I'd do the HR thing and tell them you would like to get into the dept. you WANT to be in, and ask them what the qualifications are and how to try and refocus your career!

There is no good reason to leave a job in IT unless you have suddenly become independently wealthy, like won the lottery, a casino jackpot, or just got a huge interitance. Don't you know most of us at least in the US, have lost our IT jobs to off-shoring and would give anything to have one again?

If your company has a human resource dept. go speak with them and tell them exactly how you feel. You don't need an excuse. People appreciate the honest truth and in the long run it will be to your benefit. Good luck.
