I have to use the pathagorean theorem......
A side = 13
B side = 16
C side = ?

so it is A squared + B squared = C squared
13 squared is 169 and 16 squared equals 256. 169 + 256 = 425. So C squared equals 425.....but what is 425 squared?

I know...it's seventh grade math!!!!! woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT!!

You got the first part right. Where you made the mistake is at the end. Remember a squared plus b squared is c squared. So 425 is c squared.

c squared=425.

You need to find the square root of 425 to find what c is.
c=20.61....

ever tried following website?

www.math.com

so that should be simple
squared means every thing times 2
so or you can discect it

you might wann use factoring out

425
425 ./. 5 = 85

http://www.math.com/school/subject1/lessons/S1U1L9GL.html

100 square root = 10 since 10^2 = 100
400 square root = 200 since 200 ^2 = 400
25 square root = 25 since 25 ^ 2 = 50
425 square root = 425 divisible by 5, it can't be divisible by 4 nor by 2. so its 85.
I think I am right or?

its not 425 squared, 425 is the square. you have to find the square root.

20 squared is 400, and 21 squared is 441, so you're going to be between the two.

you break your sqaure into groups of two-digits (depending on what decimal point you want to go down to):

well call it 4 25. 00 00, each group of two digits will produce a single digit for your answer.

start with 4 (in the hundreds place): that's easy, 2 (this will thus go in the tens place for your answer).

There is no remainder.

So you take your next digits: 25.
You take your tens-place answer, 2, and double it: 4. Now you have to find a number between 0 and 9 that you can multiply by the sum of itself plus 40 (your doubled 2, in the tens place, becomes 40).

It's 0, because 25 is less than 40. so 0 goes in the single-digit place: 20 so far.

25 is your remainder. tack on 00, your next two digits, ignoring the decimal point. so you've got 2500

double your 20, you get 40. Now you need a number that you can multiply times the sum of itself plus 400.

as an estimate, since 400 times 6 is 2400, we'll try that.

6 times 406 (itself plus 400) equals 2436, less than 2500 so it's good.

your answer is now 20.6.

your remander is 64 (2500 minus 2436).

since your next divisor is going to be at least 4120 (206 doubled and a space added for the next digit), you know the next number is 0.

20.60 is the answer to two decimal points (simplified, its just 20.6)

20 = 400
21 = 441
so 425 is between 20 and 21

x = 20 + (425-400)/(441-400)
x = 20.6
