i know it's extremely dumb to present life and death situations over the internet....

but a friend of mine is contemplating suicide. I don't want him to choose this, but I don't know what to do. He feels that it would be worse for him to live than for his parents to find out his drug problems.......which he is sure they will find out quickly.....what would a true friend do in this situation?

Please , Please, Please try to stay by your friends side! I personally have contemplated suicide and I still often do, the thing that comes to mind is, I often wonder how much people really pay attention to those who are trying to reach out and tell their loved ones close to them how bad they really feel about life. And how much their loved ones are paying attention to the signs. It's a dark and lonely feeling when you wake up every morning and the first thing that comes to mind is how can I kill myself, then struggle through those thoughts and try to have a NORMAL day. Just do what ever it takes to let your friend know that he has at least one person in this world who understands and is there by his side no matter what.

GOD BLESS YOU AND TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER.

I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS, I PROMISE !

You've got to remember something...If a person is talking about committing suicide, they are crying out for help and not really going to follow through with it. Any time someone is serious about taking that step and ending their own life, they will do it without making it public. Just talk to him and let him know you are on his side and that you care about him.

A true friend would go with him to the Rehab when he signs up. Then when he tells his parents, who probably already suspect something is up, is there again. Not to get in the way and run interference, but to support him, so he knows he has somebody to depend on.

tell him if he LOVES his friends and folks, he will own up and be a man and get help for the drug issu, and make everyone PROUD...
drugs arent anything to die over
if you REALLY think he is serious and he wont get help, You might need to get him to a hospital or something

Tell somebody, get him help. It's a permanent solution to a TEMPORARY problem.

Here is a good website for some phone numbers
