How long is a piece of string?? Each pregnancy and subsequent labour is different. My first came on time, right to the day, my second was a week late and my third had to be induced as I was two weeks late. Babies don't seem to follow a pattern, there is no rhyme nor reason. Have you tried all the usual things like hot curry, sex, walking around a lot? You can ask your midwife for a cervical sweep when you're overdue, sometimes they work. I remember well the discomfort of the last few weeks (and then some with my third lol) but sit tight, be patient and know that very soon you will be holding your little bundle x x x

My first came on her due date, my second was born at 2am on her due date (after an hour and 20 minutes labour, with a 30 mile drive to the hospital) - my third was a week late, due to a bit of an unexpected physical adventure two days before his due date....

You never know what will happen unfortunately, just be sure to have your travel plans in place and your bags packed, get as much rest as you can, and have patience.... the baby will come within the next week or two at the most!

If you can, have plenty of s*x - the prostaglandins in semen will ripen the cervix and encourage it to open - it's the same stuff that's in the pessary that's given to induce labour.

My first was born @ 42 weeks, My 2nd decided to wait 'til 42 weeks, And then, My 3rd, I was only 39 weeks when she decided to make her entrance.

The DR's had told me, That since I had the other 2 at 42 weeks, to expect to have this one then too....

Guess your little ones are super comfy in there and stay as long as possible! :-) Lol.

with my first i was 2weeks late and on my second i had gesgational diabeties then he was breech then he wasnt then he was then i was booked in for a c-section i had numbness in my right rib cos his bum was stuck there then when i was just about to go in for c-section they did a scan and he had turned so i couldnt have c-section 8 days later i had to be induced (not very nice at all)i was 4 days late so i hope your on time good luck and enjoy being a new mum all over again

Research has shown that it is the father's genes that determine whether a baby will be "late" in the 38-42 week period which is within the normal gestation range. So if your kid has the same dad then probably be "out" same time! sorry!
