Electromagnetic spectrum are: radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, x-rays, and gamma rays...

well... i am sure you know what are radio waves used for. (to communicate) microwaves ( to communicate)
Infrared radiation is what you feel when you get close to a fire (heat) visible light is the rainbow colors

x-rays i am sure you know their use in medicine ...

and gamma rays are use in... well i don’t know hehehe....

P.s they can be used in different things like infrared radiation is used to heat our food.. etc...

i hope i answered your question.

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of all possible electromagnetic radiation. Personally, I view it as an illustrative or learning tool.

Note that, in principle, the spectrum is infinite, but it's normally shown as a chart running from radio waves (long wavelengths/short frequency) to gamma radiation (short wavelengths/high frequency)

Visible light, X-rays, UV rays, infra red rays, radio waves, etc are all part of this spectrum. Nobody invented the specurum. Nature/universe has it and we just happened to discover it. Waves of different wavelengths have different uses for us: like X-rays used in medicine, radio waves used in communications, etc.
