The key to answer is "Insulation". If you can Use styrofoam that would be great. A styrofoam cup has an insulation rating of about R50. If you could get some flat sheets of styrofoam, either at a building site, or some damaged stuff at Home Depot, or Lowe's, you can make a killer thermal barrier. Make a big thick bulky cube, then put one layer of aluminum foil carefully around it. Then put one more layer of styrofoam on. The aluminum will block the radiant heat, and the stryofoam will isolate the cube.

You need a non-conducting material. Use a thick piece of rubber. It will lose heat slowly.
