In Australia it doesn't matter as much, experience seems to count more than grades.
The thing you do need to have though is determination and persistance. If you have those two things nothing is impossible. Of course there are some jobs that pay better if you have certain qualifications, and I dont think you can become a Doctor without going to university.
You know I havent got a degree, I actaully got 32 out of 100 for my HSC. And now I work as a Business Analyst, working at a University earning very good money.
What I have learnt was that you are only limited by yourself, and you can make your own opportunities with yup you got it determination and persistance.
There are lots of ways of getting exeperience too, why not ring up some places and do some free work experience.
Good luck. And no the HSC wasnt the be all and end all of my life.

well, besides learning whatever is being taught, grades show that you are able to work towards a goal, and fulfill that goal with something that shows a decent effort, and its a good habit to get into. No, what you get in your highschool history class for a final grade probably wont matter too much in the long run, unless you get on jeopardy and need that one fact that you didnt learn, but if you want to get into a decent school it would help to have good grades, if it comes down to you who got a c, and someone else who got an a, all else equal you will lose out. Its not like you are burning your bridges by GETTING good grades.

Grade are only important when you are in high school and in college. After you are done with school, then the grades don't really matter. What counts is the degree.

What occurs as a result of grades is important later in life.
For example, Jimmy gets a D- in his English class in high school. He manages to graduate because he didn't fail. He ends up landing a job he can only get if he has a high school diploma. He later gets promoted.
So was it important that he got a D- and not an F in his high school English class? I think the answer speaks for itself.

Yes and no.
If you're a C student, you'll fit in with all the other people working.
However, the better the grade, the harder you know you can work. The better you'll do in college, and the faster you'll succeed in the workplace.

Generally, No.
They will get you into the door for your first job or two, but after that your performance is much more important.
