When I minimized the bar doesn't show anything bein open from Microsoft word?

My mom was in Microsoft Word on her computer down stairs and she minimized her work but its not showing up at the bottom at all and well nothing will show on the lil bar at the bottom when you minimize it. Why is that?

Right click on the bar at the bottom, and bring up task manager. Make sure it is still running in the applications tab. If not, your minimize button is closing instead.

Just to confirm> Minimize is the _ box. Close is the X box.
