I dont think anyone has ever "refused to teach abstinence". I have never heard anyone say "Hey, kids, go out and sleep with everyone you can!" I think the so called liberals who are trying to teach responsible behavior, including not rushing into sex.

Abstinence only teaching has been a failure. Teenagers who take a "chastity pledge" are MORE likely to contract a sexually transmitted disease. I do think people need to be encouraged to put a lot of thought into entering a sexual relationship, but they need to understand ways to prevent disease and pregnancy if they do chose that action.

The *correct* use of condoms is important in decreasing the risk of STDs and pregnancy.

And most sex ed teachers I know who use this technique also teach abstinence as the best way to avoid both.

I'm a "Liberal Teacher" who believes in teaching teenagers how to put on condoms. But my question to you is--at what age did you first have sex (oral or vaginal)? Were you a virgen on your wedding night, and was your spouse also? IF NOT, then you are a hypocrit who needs to realize that teens, just like you were at that age, are at great risk for HIV & AIDS and STD's--and they dont deserve to lose their life over a 5 minute mistake that even adults make.
Peace

first off... I'm pretty sure no one is AGAINST teaching abstinence (if so, can you please cite it, because I haven't heard of it)... but they just want to teach about condoms in addition to it...

second... the idea of teaching abstinence only and thinking it will work makes the idea of communism being a feasible government system look realistic in comparison...

and they say liberals are naive about reality... hahaha

Because they will need to learn how to use condoms FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES; they will only need to learn how to abstain for about four to five years.

I think some of them stand up in from of the mirror every morning and say " I am a far right conservitive and gosh darnit, people like me"

It's called morality.

I wouldn't expect the "abstinence only" people to have any understanding of that. Morality isn't exactly their strong suit.

Do you actually expect kids to stop having sex just because you tell them too?
