I'll have to go with the 360 for a few reasons, first and foremost being online play. You'd think Sony would have figured this out by now but they have been getting their butts handed to them ever since the original XBox hit the market due to this. Online play with a PS2? Might as well break out that old Atari system you've mothballed in the attic because that's about the state of tech that Sony supports online. Ask even a die hard PlayStation guy who's played XBox online and either he/she will admit that it rocks or they are simply living in denial.
The line PlayStation folks always trot out in this argument is the tired old "We've got tons more games and can play PS1 titles as well" WOW!!! I just drool over first gen stuff and firmly believe 'side scrollers' are on the comeback. I also believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy. Let's get real, nobody wants to play that old crap so this 'selling point' is moot as is the argument.
Now the big 'selling point' is Blue Ray. Sony figures it will totally erase the standard DVD market with it's better platform because, well, it's Sony and it's better. I'll admit. the picture is great, BUT...I can't imagine video stores warming up to having to carry two seperate formats, heck, they're throwing VHS tapes away these days. And as the old saying goes " Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" Does anyone remember the VHS vs Beta war? Beta was smaller and with better sound reproduction but where is it today but a footnote in history. And who's platform was it? Yup, Sony. Even in recent history we've only to look at what Nintendo did when they tried to break the mold and go their own way with that silly mini disc. About all a GameCube is good for these days is a doorstop.
Say what you will but I'll stick with the XBox, and at 41 years of age I'm pretty sure of my decision as research bears me out. Trust me, when I lay down the hard earned ducats to purchase something I make dam sure it's the best bang for the buck out there.

The Wii is a radical shift in gaming, the controller becomes an extension of your body now as opposed to something you hold and just press buttons. The potential for 1st person shooters is unlimited. Baseball on the Wii looks like it could be lots of fun as well.
