This isn't really the category for a riddle, but here goes...
Today is January 1 (let's say 2006 just for the sake of illustration.)
The day before yesterday was December 30, 2005 and you were 35.
On December 31, 2005 you turned 36.
On December 31, 2006 you will turn 37.
Since it's NOW 2006, *next year* is 2007. On December 31, 2007 you will turn 38.
