Someone posted this as a response to a question and I got a good laugh out of it...maybe I am jaded, but I feel love is absolutely conditional, unless you talk of perhaps a parents love of their child (well until they grow up and go into porn or live a life of crime, etc)...what do you think and explain why you feel how you do...thanks...

The only love that is unconditonal is from an animal, child, or parent. All the rest have conditions.

Yes. Here's my reasoning. Being "conditioned" not to love is an oxymoron; conditioning refers to being moulded, exacting wrong from right and vice versus. Love makes the world go round, it is invisible and always present. I do understand where you're coming from; being aware of circumstance, which you mentioned ( crime, adult business ) is a theory all its own.
I think you misunderstand the intention and definition of the word love; it means a plethora of ideas and items that vary from individual to individual. However I don't think you're jaded. Have you heard the expression, "jaded heart"?. Your statement and concern in posting this tells me that you have enough conscious to question the theory of love;jaded usually refers to a state of weariness, dullness and pretention. I don't think you are any of those things; I don't know you personally but I do like your question and opinion. You've earned my respect. Have a nice evening!

Agape or the real unconditional kind of love that you're question is talking about is impossible unless it is from God. Either Gods' love for us or our love for others brought about through us by God. My dictionary says God's love for man; divine love. And the Bible most often quoted verse "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NIV) Many people will die for someone or something that we like or love. But only God died for people who hated Him.

Most love is not unconditional, there a few exceptions when a parent loves their child no matter what.

Under normal circumstances true love is unconditional.

The things you mentioned aren't the norm.

Love's totally conditional outside of family. I can't say that as a fact..it's my postulate then. [='

i don't think you know what "unconditional love" is buddy! it means that you love someone no matter what; but you can hat the sin they commit (being a criminal etc.), but still love them.
